Tips for Choosing Kids Beds

Choosing kids beds is a lot of fun but also a big challenge. When you are redecorating your child’s room, the bed is one of the largest elements to include and there are a few tips that will come in handy. You do not need any home designer but these tips will help keep you on track and ensure you make the right decision.

Determine your budget first. Most parents make the mistake of heading out and looking around at different stores before even having a clue of how much money they can spend. This is a really bad idea because you are going to end up falling in love with more expensive beds that you may end up realizing you just cannot afford. Especially if you plan to redecorate the rest of the room along with the bed, this is not the wisest plan. Get your budget straightened out so you know how much you have to work with and then focus on shopping around for kids beds.

Consider the age of your child first and foremost. Their age will have one of the greatest impacts on your decision here. A toddler for instance should not be in a bunk bed or even a bed without a side rail on it to protect them. Toddlers are newly out of their crib and are not yet used to the idea of sleeping in a bed without rails around it. You do not want them falling out of bed at night so ensure that you use two side rails or have one side of the bed against a wall and use a single side rail.

Also, assess the size of the room and see how much room you have to work with. With a master bedroom, it is easier because you have so much more space available. In a kids room on the other hand you are working with less space and you want them to have room to run around and play even with the new bed in.

There are built-in beds, which are really neat. These work well in rooms with limited space. Do take into consideration however that there will be extra costs involved, as you will need to create a built-in space into the wall.

If your child is a bit older, you can get much more creative with it. There are pirate ship beds, racecar beds, even double-decker beds that have a sort of cave as the bottom bed. Your child’s room should be a play and comfort zone for them. They can rock out, have tons of fun during the day, and then get a nice comfortable sleep at night.

There are so many wonderful options for children’s beds to pick from. Your options are endless and you will have a lot of fun shopping and seeing all the cool new bed ideas for little ones. Choosing kids beds can be as tough as choosing a sideboard for your dining area, because there are so many to pick from but the most important thing is to choose one that works well in the room and also which your kid will love.
